The 127th Boston Marathon took place on April 17, 2023, with approximately 30,000 runners participating. Evans Chebet of Kenya successfully defended his men's title with a time of 2:05:54, becoming the first man to do so since Robert Kiprono Cheruiyot in 2012.
Hellen Obiri of Kenya stunned the field in the women's race, winning her first World Marathon Major title in just her second marathon ever. She crossed the finish line in an impressive 2:20:41, ahead of Lonah Salpeter of Israel and Emma Bates of the United States.
