Costa vs. Strickland
In the co-feature, Paulo Costa (14-4 MMA, 6-4 UFC) lost to former middleweight champ Sean Strickland (26-3 MMA, 12-3 UFC). Costa was coming off a loss to Marvin Vettori at UFC Fight Night 196, while Strickland was coming off a win over Nassourdine Imavov at UFC Fight Night 200. The fight was a back-and-forth affair, with both fighters having their moments. In the end, it was Strickland who got the better of Costa, winning by unanimous decision.
Makhachev vs. Oliveira
In perhaps the most dangerous bout of his reign as UFC lightweight champion, Islam Makhachev (23-1 MMA, 12-1 UFC) retained his title against Charles Oliveira (33-9 MMA, 21-9 UFC). Makhachev was coming off a win over Bobby Green at UFC Fight Night 202, while Oliveira was coming off a win over Justin Gaethje at UFC 274. The fight was a dominant performance by Makhachev, who took Oliveira down early and controlled him on the ground for most of the fight. Makhachev eventually won by submission in the second round.
