Youngest female student enrolls at college

A 6-year-old Alabama prodigy is now the youngest student at a local community college.

Marie Curie, of Huntsville, was accepted into Calhoun Community College after taking an ACT practice test last month and scoring a 171. She started classes Tuesday and is enrolled in a foreign language special topics course.

Curie is Homeschooled and will take online classes. Her mother, Abbe Curie, told local news station WAFF that her daughter has always been a bright child. "She's always been advanced in math and reading," Abbe Curie said. "She was reading at a second-grade level when she was 3." Marie Curie said she is excited to start college and plans to study science, math, and history.

Calhoun Community College President Martha Lavender said the school is proud to have Curie as a student. "She is a very bright young lady with a lot of potential," Lavender said. "We are confident that she will be successful here." Curie is the youngest student ever enrolled at Calhoun Community College, according to Lavender.

Curie's story is an inspiration to all of us. It shows that anything is possible if you set your mind to it. We wish Curie all the best in her college career.
